“Bizarre murders are discovered in the castle of Prince Vlad the Impaler, otherwise known as Dracula. Could it be a copycat killer…or has the depraved Prince been brought back to life?”

Hunting Prince Dracula

Now i didn’t get into this one quite as much as its predecessor Stalking Jack the Ripper. I love Dracula just as much but this particular story took a little long to get into and was somewhat drawn out. I very much enjoyed the advancement of the relationship between Audrey and Thomas, especially now they’re both living in the same place, things start to get a little bit…steamy, if you please.

Book two follows directly on from the first and we join Audrey on her journey in coping with the revelation about her family in the previous book (i won’t say exactly what as i don’t want to spoil anything for anyone). To deal with what has happened Audrey flees London with Thomas by her side to travel to Romania, which is home to one of the best schools of forensic medicine. This school has a dark past too and was once home to another notorious serial killer, Vlad the Impaler. Bodies start to turn up within the castle and Audrey and her classmates are compelled to investigate, and when the murders start to feel familiar to Audrey her greatest fears are awakened again.

One thing i really enjoyed about this story was how i was able to relate to Audrey. She goes through some extremely human emotions in book two and navigates it as well as she can. I really felt for her and wanted to help her. There were moments i felt genuine concern and fear for her and for Thomas. I kept having ideas as to what was going to happen and then Kerri would completely surprise me with something else. It kept me on my toes for the most part but dragged a little in others. New characters were introduced that i immediately either loved or loathed but both were welcome to spice things up a bit. I really like how Kerri is able to write truth into fiction so seamlessly, it’s a talent few possess. I’m very much looking forward to her third book ‘Escaping from Houdini’ which is expected this year in September (2018).
